Winter...it is preparation time at the farm.
December is the busiest time for us with all the maple products and wreaths being shipped out, so January is definitely a time to slow down some. It is also a great time to get ready for the upcoming sugaring season which starts around February 20th. There are thousands of feet of sap lines to walk and check. Trees and branches often fall on the lines, and must be removed. The "little animals" of the woods (mice, squirrels, porcupines) often spend their idle time chewing on the lines, so there are many holes to repair.
